New media and accessibility are recreating the content industry, and UCLA TFT is pioneering a completely new curriculum for that rapidly changing world. To meet the needs of a new world and more advanced students, UCLA TFT has created an interdisciplinary experience where entertainment, performing arts and cutting-edge research can thrive. It’s an environment where the storytellers, performers, scholars and industry leaders of tomorrow are learning how to blaze new professional and creative trails.

UCLA TFT’s Department of Film, Television and Digital Media offers programs of study in the history and theory, as well as the creative and technical aspects, of moving images. Programs are designed to develop artists in film, television and digital media with an emphasis on humanistic visual storytelling. For more than half a century, UCLA TFT has trained students in the art and craft of filmmaking, television and digital media while also expanding their understanding of the critical, theoretical and historical components of these art forms. UCLA TFT infuses students with the highest standards of craftsmanship with imaginative freedom, innovation and sense of social responsibility.

UCLA TFT film, television and digital media graduates are world-renowned and have won prestigious awards including Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Primetime Emmys, and Independent Spirit Awards, among many others.
