UCLA Engineering is developing solutions for 21st century challenges. Engineering scholarships help students with the greatest need excel.
Students at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science are among the best and brightest in California and the world. More than 30 students apply for each undergraduate opening at UCLA Engineering, making the school one of the most competitive in the nation.
From Professor James Liao’s success in turning the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide into sustainable biofuels to Professor Yang Yang’s breakthrough work that nearly doubled the efficiency of solar cells, UCLA Engineering researchers are creating the future today. Our demanding curriculum includes hands-on work in laboratories and a requirement that students take courses outside of their chosen major in order to more effectively collaborate with others. Cross-disciplinary skills and knowledge are the key to finding practical solutions for challenges in sustainability, clean water, renewable energy, health care, data analysis, computer science and other critical fields.
Our collaborations with the schools of medicine, management and other disciplines in which UCLA excels help our students become leaders in technology and society.
Our active alliances with engineering industry leaders give our students access to expertise, internships and job opportunities. Our nearly 40 student-run engineering clubs give our students hands-on design-and-build experience.
Although a UC education was once affordable to all, today a high percentage of students struggle to pay the full costs of an engineering education.
Scholarships for undergraduates and fellowships for graduate students preserve the UCLA Engineering tradition of excellence, diversity and access, removing financial barriers for promising students of limited means and helping the school to attract top-flight candidates.
